This innovative tool was designed to easily slip onto most AO style phoropters, creating an additional breath barrier between doctor and patient, while not interfering with the use of the phoropter, or touching the nose of the patient, even when the PD is adjusted.

The unique design of the Phoropter Shield™ features special contours that cover the gap between the two sides of the phoropter without covering the oculars or interfering with the use of cylinder knobs, JCC units, or Risley units.

A rigid, yet flexible, 30mil polycarbonate composition allows for easy installation and removal for cleaning. Polycarbonate can be cleaned with most disinfectants, as well as warm soap and water, to sanitize between patients. This breath barrier will last for years!

Made in the USA by Bernell Corporation.

Please Note: For sanitary reasons, all approved orders of The Phoropter Shield™ are non-returnable. For international customers, as well as customers in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, please note that your orders will not be considered "approved" until you have approved the shipping charges, which will be sent to you in a quote.

Cleaning Instructions:

Using warm water with soap, thoroughly wash away any debris. It is recommended to use a lint-free cloth with alcohol, or another disinfecting wipe, to sterilize the plastic between uses. In order to avoid scratching the plastic, please do not use any abrasive cleaning products, such as brushes.

Installation Instructions:

To install the Phoropter Shield™ onto a standard manual phoropter, begin by removing the plastic protective film on both sides of the device. Next, with the phoropter in normal position, place the wings of the phoropter shield so that they come to rest on the joint which holds the JCC/Cross Cylinder prisms on each side. The unit should come to rest on this joint and allow for the JCC/Cross lenses to be adjusted with the shield in place. It is possible that the shield may move slightly when these lenses are adjusted, depending on the phoropter model. If so, please move the shield back into place after adjusting. Refer to the video on the "Video" section of the product page for a quick demonstration of the installation and removal.
